Max Nathanson
DPhil Candidate
Affiliation: Smith School of Enterprise and Environment
Expert in: Global development and climate change, Migration narratives, representations, and public opinion
Geographic focus: United States and Latin America
Max's work examines how the narratives and interest group politics around migration shape public policies that determine the security outcomes of climate change. His qualitative research considers this question for the migration corridor to the US from Mexico and Central America, from NAFTA to the present. Max's project highlights how the transboundary nature of climate change complicates determinations of sovereignty and domestic political institutional orders both within the US and between the US, Mexico, and Central America. Max's work builds on experience in economic development and community organizing, and he is always eager to explore new partnerships and insights.
