Junior conducts research at the intersection of energy poverty, energy communities, and migration. He investigates how racialized and migrant populations and ethnic minority groups experience compounded barriers to sustainable energy access, which reinforces structural inequalities underlying migration dynamics. His work highlights how limited energy access shapes rural-to-urban and cross-border migration by restricting livelihoods, education, and healthcare, driving individuals and households to migrate in search of better opportunities. His research draws critical connections between energy justice and racial justice.
