Most of Jennifer's research looks at the connections between French literature and colonialism in the 'long' nineteenth century, or deals with nineteenth-century transculturalism. This includes particular interests in Orientalism, French 'Indochina', métissage, and the relationships between the verbal and visual arts. She also does some research, and teaches on, recent literature from Francophone countries.
